Library launches ?1,000 Books Before Kindergarten?

The goal of a new program at Weyauwega Public Library is for parents to read 1,000 books to their children before they start kindergarten.

Library staff members say if parents read at least one book a day to their children for three years, they will read 1,095 books during that time period.

The children will then have heard thousands of words to increase their vocabulary.

To participate in the program, sign up at the library and begin tracing the progress of ones child.

The school year is coming to an end, and the 2013 Dig Into Reading summer library program will begin on Monday, June 3.

Children may sign up for the program, beginning on June 3 and then begin reading. Watch for more details next week.

For information about any of the programs, visit the library or call it at 920-867-3742.
