Sandra D. Schaeffer, 49, Weyauwega, was charged with a fifth drunken driving offense and operating after revocation of her license.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, Waupaca Police Officer Paul Benzschawel responded to an accident reported near the corner of North Main and Water streets.
The caller said a silver vehicle had collided with a utility pole, then drove away.
When he arrived at the scene, Benzschawel saw evidence that a vehicle had hit the pole and a stone retaining wall.
The officer located a silver vehicle parked behind the Fireside Apartments on Main Street. Schaeffer was in the driver’s seat.
Benzschawel observed Schaeffer had dilated pupils. She told the officer she had recently taken medication, according to the criminal complaint.
Court records indicate Schaeffer has four prior drunken driving convictions. Her license was revoked for three years in December 2009.
