Young, Roger E.

Roger E. Young, age 74 years, of Manawa passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Roger Edward Young was born June 25, 1938 in the Town of Maine, Outagamie County, to Raymond and Iris (Cavner) Young. He was united in marriage on October 29, 1960 to Beverly A. Tomas at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Roger was a lifelong farmer, starting with dairy cows and in more recent years, organic farming, growing Yukon Gold and Red Potatoes. Along with farming, he also drove semi over-the-road for 40 years, first with Neenah Foundry and then with Waupaca Trucking Company, until his health forced him to retire in 2012.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly, and five children: Rory (Kim) Young of New London, Michelle Schwemer of Manawa, Christine Heller of Waupaca, Elizabeth (Brian) Bricko of Slinger, and Alan (LuAnn) Young of New London. There are 11 grandchildren: Jessica (Dave) Gardner, Heather (Michael) Broton, Krystal Kluess, Jordan (Sara) Ortner, Jena Young, Jacob Young, Justin Young, Nichole Bricko, David Kalbus, Andrew Popke, and Lisa (Craig) Driebel. There are 4 great grandchildren: Seth Driebel, Aiden Gardner, Nickolas Broton, and Hunter Ortner. Roger is further survived by a brother-in-law, Leland Peeters of Bonduel; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Scott Young and Bradley Bricko, two sisters, Monica Peeters and Priscilla (Joseph) Darling, and a special friend, Elroy Angel.

The family wants to especially thank everyone for all their prayers, love, and concern for Roger. A private memorial service was held on Monday, June 24th at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Deacon Lincoln Wood, St. Rose/St. Mary’s pastoral leader, officiated.
