Amplified phones offered for seniors

A program on how seniors and veterans can obtain vouchers for amplified phones will be offered at 10 a.m.Thursday, July 25, at the Clintonville Senior Center.

The Wisconsin Telecommunications Equipment Purchase Program (TEPP) provides amplified telephone vouchers for state residents with hearing loss. Most applicants can obtain the phones free of charge.

Anyone who struggles to hear on a regular telephone and has notreceived a TEPP voucher within the last three years may qualify. There are no age or income restrictions.

The telephones offered have features that enable those with a hearing loss to communicate better over the phone.

These features include hearing aid compatibility, amplified volume, enriched tone controls, extra large numbered keypads, loud ringer volume choices, caller ID capability, and unique speed-dialing features.

The speaker will be Paul Klocko of ElderCom.

Senior Center Director Ryan Rockey noted, “We worked with Paul at another event and had many of our community members participate. We believe every Senior and Veteran who struggles to hear on a phone owes it to themselves to attend and apply.”

Participants will be able to ask questions, view available equipment, and apply for the program. There is no charge for residents who qualify for the program.

Those who cannot attend the workshop and have further questions may call Paul Klocko at 715-241-6940 or email ([email protected]) for additional information.
