Youth football camp in Iola

The start of football season may still be more than a month away, but young players who just can’t wait can get a head start with an upcoming one-day camp in Iola.

The Thunderbird Football camp, to be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at the Iola-Scandinavia football practice field is for players entering grades 3-8.

The camp is designed to introduce athletes to the skills and techniques used by the Thunderbird football program. High school coaches and Firebird coaches will work with each player on an individual basis.

There is no participation fee. Players should bring football shoes or gym shoes, shorts, and a T-shirt. Participants should report to the high school practice field by 5:20 p.m. dressed and ready to go.

The camp is open to all interested athletes regardless of hometown or school district. Parents/guardians will need to sign a permission slip and concussion disclosure statement, both of which will be available at the event.

I-S football coach Scott Erickson will direct the camp along with Charlie Hoyord, Jay Hoyord and Mark Forseth of Iola-Scandinavia Pee-Wee Athletics.

Call 715-701-2048 or e-mail Forseth at [email protected] for more information.
