Stead, Michael W.

Michael W. Stead, age 65 of the Town of Farmington, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness Thursday September 26th.

Mike was the son of Jeannette and Lloyd Stead of Appleton. He was preceded in death by his brother Terry Stead of Appleton. He is survived by his brother Stephen and his wife Judy Stead Waupaca, nephew James Stead of Mosinee, niece Kimie Stead-Ajana Appleton, niece Samantha Eberle of Mukwonago, niece Leigh Peterson; Vancouver British Columbia, and niece Jena Sales of Grafton.

Mike graduated from Appleton High and earned a BBA and MBA from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Mike was a proud member of Mensa, a charter member of the Saint James Methodist Church of Appleton; a member of the City of Waupaca Chamber of Commerce and a long serving volunteer at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. Mike worked for the State of Wisconsin for the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, Departments of Agriculture, Justice and was most proud of his twenty plus years serving Wisconsin Veterans as Executive Assistant, then Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs and ending his career as Deputy Commandant at the Wisconsin Veterans Home-King.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday October 4th from 6 to 8 PM at Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King in his name.
