The unbelievable chaos being caused by a small contingent of extremists in the majority party of the House of Representatives could do irreparable harm to our nation.
Those extremists appear to be the tea party advocates for the elimination of the Affordable Care Act. They chose the passage of an appropritions bill and the necessity of raising the debt ceiling to unleash their treacherous plan. They did so without the slightest concern over the 800,000 jobs that were furloughed as a result.
The immediate effect of job losses has led to problems for small and large business throughout the country and the halt of our recovery progress
It is obvious that the politicians’ allegiance is to insurance companies and other financial interests. They argue that the insurance industry will not be able to compete in the health care field, or at least their profit margin will be cut.
The Affordable Care Act is a law that is already in effect. It allows everyone without insurance to get coverage. Individuals can get better insurance for much less because more people are participating in competing plans.
The privatizing of health care by the insurance companies, equipment suppliers and others has driven medical costs to an astronomical level. Why not allow the public a fair system?
I hope our nation’s voters remember the government shutdown of October 2013 at the ballot box next year and turn these extremists out to pay for their own insurance.
