Chiefs shut out Indians

Shiocton took another step toward a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference football championship Oct. 11 by handing Weyauwega-Fremont a 51-0 defeat.

The Chiefs scored three times in the first quarter on 5- and 2-yard runs from Jacob Van Asten and Talon Heinemeyer’s 24-yard pas to Austin Riehl and found the end zone four more times in the second quarter. Heinemeyer connected with Patrick Brouillard from 32 and 23 yards, Garrett Gunderson returned an interception 27 yards and Van Asten scored from 3 yards out.

Andrew Wild led the Indian defense with 16 tackles, while Corey Schmidt added 12, Brandon Loehrke had 11, Cody Chase chipped in with 10, Anthony Behn and Trevor Wetzel had seven Blake Hudziak had six.

“Adam Krause was also injured Friday and hopes to be back this week,” coach Tom Chase said. “He will be day-to-day.”

The Chiefs outgained the Indians 193-28 on the ground and 123-23 through the air.

W-F will wrap up the season Friday, Oct. 18, at Stevens Point Pacelli. Gametime at Stevens Point’s Goerke Field is set for 5 p.m.
