Indians at home for tournament opener

Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s volleyball team ended the regular season for Weyauwega-Fremont by sweeping all three games from the Indians Oct. 15 in Central Wisconsin 8 Conference pool play.

The Chargers won all three games, 25-11, 25-17, 25-23.

Megan Young led the Indians with nine kills, four solo blocks and two assisted blocks, while Jordan Krause added 21 assists and 11 digs; Kelsey Gilbert served up 12 points; and Morgan Wilson chipped in with 15 digs.

The Indians received a No. 4 seed in its Division 3 bracket for the state tournament and opened postseason play Oct. 22 by hosting No. 5 Wild Rose. The winner of that match will play at 7 tonight (Thursday, Oct. 24), at top-seeded Lourdes Academy in Oshkosh or will host No. 8 Iola-Scandinavia in a regional semifinal. The regional final will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, with the highest-seeded team hosting.
