Level 1 playoff pairings listed

All five area teams that qualified for the state high school playoffs will open postseason play at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, with a home game.

Here’s a rundown of the first-round pairings involving area teams:

Division 2: Hortonville (8-0 Bay Conference, 9-0 overall) received a No. 3 seed and will host sixth-seeded Superior (5-2 Big Rivers Conference, 7-2 overall). The winner will play the No. 2 Menomonie/No. 7 Marshfield winner in Level 2.

Division 3: Waupaca (8-0 Eastern Valley Conference, 9-0 overall) received a No. 1 seed and will host eighth-seeded Antigo (3-3 Great Northern Conference, 3-5 overall). The winner will play the No. 4 Medford/No. 5 Seymour winner in Level 2.

Division 5: Amherst (6-1 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference, 8-1 overall) received a No. 3 seed and will host sixth-seeded Colby (6-1 Cloverbelt Conference, 8-1 overall). The winner will play the No. 2 Mondovi/No. 7 Westby winner in Level 2.

Division 6: Iola-Scandinavia (5-2 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference, 7-2 overall) received a No. 3 seed and will host sixth-seeded Crandon (4-2 Northern Lakes Conference, 6-2 overall). The winner will play the No. 2 Algoma/No. 7 Auburndale winner in Level 2.

Division 7: Almond-Bancroft (4-1 Central Wisconsin 10 Conference, 7-2 overall) received a No. 3 seed and will host sixth-seeded Cambria-Friesland (4-2 Trailways Small Conference, 5-4 overall). The winner will play the No. 2 Lake Country Lutheran/No. 7 Port Edwards winner in Level 2.

Level 2 games are scheduled for Friday or Saturday, Nov. 2-3; Level 3 games will be played Friday or Saturday, Nov. 8-9; and Level 4 games are set for Friday or Saturday, Nov. 15-16. The state finals will be played Thursday and Friday, Nov. 21-22, at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
