Lovelace to play for USA Eagles

Mike Lovelace has been nominated to the Semi-Pro Football All-American Bowl Teams and the USA Eagles national team.

Lovelace was featured in an article that appeared in the County Post East earlier this year, highlighting his work to set up a Domestic Violence Awareness game.

The All-American Bowl games will begin at the Metrodome in Minnesota, home of the Minnesota Vikings. Games will be played Dec. 19-21. During these games, Lovelace will have a chance to participate in a combine in front of scouts from the NFL, CFL, Europe, and Arena Football Leagues.

Lovelace has also been asked to participate in games to be played in Puerto Rico, Las Vegas, and Monterey, Mexico.

Lovelace led a stellar defensive attack while playing for the Oshkosh Bombers this season with a team-leading 13.5 registered sacks, 17 solo tackles for a loss, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, over 50 tackles, four passes defended, a safety, and a blocked field goal.

Lovelace battled back from shoulder injuries sustained in a car accident in March to finish as a team captain and received the Defensive Player of the Year Award. The accolades continued for him as he was nominated to the All Ironman Football League First Team.

Lovelace also faced a very scary moment in the last regular season game of the year with what doctors can only explain as having mini-stroke like symptoms.

Currently, Lovelace manages the personal training departments of the Anytime Fitness in New London and Seymour.

With the selection of Lovelace to the All-American Bowl Games, he is also asked to find sponsors to cover travel, jersey, meals, and lodging costs associated with the games. Anyone interested in contributing to this cause may contact him via email at: [email protected] or by phone at: 920-412-2105. Any amount is appreciated and sponsorship packages are also available. All sponsorships are due by October 27.
