Braatz, Lorraine

Lorraine Braatz, 90, of Waupaca, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013, at Riverside Medical Center.

Lorraine was born on July 21, 1923, in Eland WI, daughter of Joseph and Lila (Pribbernow) Moser. Lorraine married Alvin Braatz on October 3, 1942, in Milwaukee. Alvin passed away on August 13, 2006. Lorraine worked at the Holiday Inn Restaurant, Edward’s bakery, the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King and spent most of her life creating a loving and welcoming home. She enjoyed golfing, curling, walking, basket weaving, feeding and watching the birds at her feeders, cooking and baking (Morning Glory Muffins.) She enjoyed playing cards and socializing with her many friends. Lorraine was a regular attendee and an active participant in many church groups and always liked conversations on Bible issues and current event issues. She was an avid Packer and Brewer fan and was a lifelong supporter of her children and their many endeavors.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter Mary Lou (Dennis) Bonikowske of Stevens Point, WI, their children, Scott (Carrie) Bonikowske and Megan of Stevens Point; Melissa (Chad) Thomley, Anna and Allison of Middleton, WI; Jenessa (Justin) Reid of Plover, WI; son, William (Mary Jo) Braatz of Sheboygan, WI, their children, Steven (Erica) Braatz and Mason of Richmond, VA; Peter (Elizabeth) Braatz, Emma, Carter and Sydney, Thiensville,WI, and many “adopted” grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and brother Thomas.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Immanual Lutheran Church, Waupaca with visitation from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Rev. Loren Fritz will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
