Church dedicates outdoor retreat center

Calvary Lutheran Church in Waupaca has a new outdoor retreat center.

It was designed and built by Ryan Weise, of Waupaca, to fulfill requirements for his Eagle Scout Badge.

Weise was assisted in the construction by fellow members of Boy Scout Troop 634, family and friends.

“I truly appreciate all the support from the Calvary congregation, my Scout troop, family and friends,” he said.

The retreat center is situated in a woodsy area behind the church building.

It features an arbor and tiled walkway, a patio with four wooden benches for rest and meditation, a children’s play area and a firepit, flanked by a 20-foot aluminum cross.

The retreat center was dedicated on Sunday, Oct. 27, with Calvary’s pastor, the Rev. Bob Selle, officiating.

“What a pleasant place for relaxation and renewal, for good conversations and meaningful sharing, for Bible study, singing and worship. I expect it will find good use,” he said.
