Mosquito Hill plans workshops

The busy holiday season is approaching; why not check out the following nature-themed craft classes scheduled at Mosquito Hill Nature Center in November.

Learn how to make a wreath out of wine corks in a class on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 12 to 3:30 p.m. Naturalist Jessica Miller will show you how to attach corks to a natural base to create a unique adornment for your kitchen or the perfect gift for the wine aficionado. The cost is $20 per person or $18 for students, seniors and Friends of Mosquito Hill.

On Sunday, Nov. 24 from 12 to 3:30 p.m., naturalist Jessica Miller will guide participants through the process of making their own natural stone floor mat. A variety of small river rocks will be used to create a stylish and environmentally friendly mat that is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. The cost is $25 for adults or $23 for students, seniors and Friends of Mosquito Hill.

Fresh evergreen boughs and embroidery hoops, cinnamon sticks, dried fruit and ribbon will be used to create mini wreaths and other holiday window dressings in a workshop scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 30 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Naturalist Mary Swifka will provide all materials for these seasonal decorations that will bring a bit of the outdoors into your home during the holidays. The cost is $12 per person or $10 for students, seniors & Friends of Mosquito Hill.

Registration and payment for all three classes are due Nov. 15.
