He met and married Jeannine Mattison, also a Bethany alum, in 1953.

Herb is survived by his wife, Jeannine (Jan) Schol; sons, Marc (Rena) Schol of Dundee, IL, and James Schol of Anchorage, AK, and a sister, Ruth (Don) Morthland of Morrison, IL. His five grandchildren were the delight of Herb’s life and the 8 greats were always the best of the lot! Amy Schol (Bryan Ward) and their children, Matthew and Ethan; Tim (Natalie) Schol and their children: Eli, Abby Grace, Owen, and Lily Jo; Sarah Schol; Samantha Schol and her daughter, Katie Schol, and Sabrina (Paul) Wortheim and their son, Lucas. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Herb retired from Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, WI. He had enjoyed many years of travel and delighted in meeting many great friends. Our “Gang” is the very best! Herb and Jan are members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI. Herb’s interests were many including golf, boating, piloting his airplane, hunting, fishing, traveling, stain glass and carving classes. Herb enjoyed life, family and friends.
