Christmas tree lighting

The annual Weyauwega Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of the city Christmas Tree on the lawn of the Weyauwega Public Library.

The Weyauwega-Fremont Marching Parade will then lead the parade from the library through downtown, ending by the Gerold Opera House.

The Wega Arts tree will be lit on the corner of Main and Pine streets, where there will also be a live nativity provided by Animal Haven Zoo.

Roger and Lucy Pomrening are donating that tree in memory of Roema Pomrening Halverson. Randy Faulks and Faulks Bros. Construction will get and set up the tree.

After the parade and tree lighting, W-F High School Choir members will sing a couple of songs before everyone is invited into the heated opera house.

Wega Arts will provide hot chocolate.

The Waupaca Area Orchestra will provide a quartet, and the high school choir will lead the community in singing Christmas carols.

Children will be able to visit with Santa Claus and tell him what they want for Christmas.
