Fonstad, Fay B.

Fay B. Fonstad, age 101, of Waupaca passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Bethany Home.

Fay was born in Mukwonago, WI on November 14, 1912, the daughter of the late Paul E. and Marie (Becker) Yerke. Fay earned a B.S. in Home Economics from Central State Teachers’ College, now UW Stevens Point. She taught in Alma Center and Kewaskum prior to her marriage on July 27, 1941 to Ward A. Fonstad of Stevens Point. The couple moved to Waupaca after W.W. II. Fay was active in PTA, Scouting, AAUW, and Trinity Lutheran Church (especially the women’s group and Sara Circle). She was a past-president of most of these. She served on the Waupaca Board of Education for twelve years and the Library Board for about ten.

Fay is survived by her sons: Todd Fonstad, Amherst, WI; Dan (Dorothy) Fonstad, Appleton, WI and John Fonstad, Amherst Jct., WI; her grandchildren: Mark Fonstad; Kristina (Chad) Stingle and Ashley (Nicholas) Berry; her step-grandchildren: Kyle (Amanda) Brown and Kjersti Simpson; her great-grandchildren: David and Kate Stingle and Maxwell Berry; her step great-grandchildren: Garret, Natalie and Warren Brown and Grace Simpson and her sister, Jean Ann Kelly, Marquette, MI. Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Ward, her parents, her brother, Roy Yerke, two sisters, Ina Diedrich and Catherine Bates and her daughter in law, Karen Fonstad.

The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 7 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waupaca with Reverend Andy Behrendt and Reverend Eugene Gauerke, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Stevens Point, WI. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
