Hintz, Dorothy M.

Dorothy M. Hintz, age 89, New London, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 28, 2013.

Dorothy was born on September 21, 1924, in New London, daughter of the late Ernest and Olive (Wilcox) Claassen. On June 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Merlin Hintz at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. He preceded her in entering eternal life in 1998. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of New London. She worked at St. Joseph Residence in the kitchen for 22 years where she loved every minute. One of her greatest accomplishments was learning to sew, making swim suits, pajamas and blankets. Dorothy was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid, LWMS, and various bridge clubs. She was very lighthearted and loved to hear people laugh.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean Parker, Marshfield; Linda (Patrick) Flaherty, Atlanta; a son, David (Diane) Hintz, Waupaca; a brother, Dennis Claassen, Appleton; two grandchildren, Christian Parker (fiancée, Rebecka Degner) and Elissa Parker; and also numerous other relatives and friends. Dorothy will be missed by her entire family, especially by her cat, Freddy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Bess and brother Donald.

Funeral services for Dorothy were held on Monday, December 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Burial will be in the New Maple Creek Cemetery, Town of Maple Creek. Visitation was held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
