Turnovers doom Truckers

The Trucker boys varsity basketball team committed 20 turnovers during their game against the Comets on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The Comets took advantage of those turnovers and cruised to a 62-35 win.

Clintonville led early by a score of 3-0, but the Comets closed out the first quarter with a 14-0 run and then outscored the visitors 11-10 in the second quarter to take a 25-13 halftime lead.

Waupaca added to its lead with an 18-6 advantage in the third quarter before outscoring the visitors 19-16 over the final eight minutes.

The Truckers made 11 of 35 shots (27 percent). Andy Schmidt led Clintonville with 11 points.

The Hawks led 8-4 after one quarter and 19-11 at halftime. They extended their lead by outscoring the Truckers 13-6 in the third quarter and 18-12 in the fourth quarter.

Clintonville made just 7 of 26 shots (26 percent) and made 12 of 20 free throws (60 percent). Clintonville was outrebounded 27-18. The Hawks had 13 steals and the Truckers had 19 turnovers.

Schmidt led the team with 10 points, while Aaron Teske had six.

The Truckers host Xavier on Friday, Dec. 6. Opening tip is set for 7:15 p.m.
