Verlyn E. Schulke, Age 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his home in Waupaca, WI.

He was born November 28, 1936 in the Town of Lanark, Portage Co., WI; son of William and Elsie (Nowak) Schulke. On February 19, 1955, Verlyn married Joann Mallison at St. Paul’s Church in the Town of Buena Vista, WI. He enjoyed snowmobiling and marking snowmobile trails, camping, county music, hayrides, cookouts, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verlyn was a member of the Sawdust City Tree Dodgers, Wild Rose Sno-Rovers, and the A.W.S.C. (Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs). He will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and many friends.

Verlyn is survived by: His Loving Wife: Joann Schulke of Waupaca, WI, Sons: Bill (Gail) Schulke of Pine River, WI, Bob Schulke of Waupaca, WI, Daughters: June (Dwight) Shanak of Waupaca, WI, Vera (Paul) Hanson of Waupaca, WI, Grandchildren: Melissa (Brian) Hoffland of Waupaca, WI, Billie Kirwan of Wautoma, WI,Jon Schulke of Waupaca, WI, Noel (Jon) Seroy of Kimberly, WI, Matthew Shanak of Waupaca, WI, Nicole (Adam) VandenBoogard of Madison, WI, Justine Shanak of Appleton, WI, Brian Shanak of Appleton, WI, 8 Great-Grandchildren Brother: Bernard (Pat) Schulke of Waupaca, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Verlyn was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie Schulke; two brothers, Leonard and Willard Schulke; and four sisters, Gertrude Bartel, Adeline Schulke, Elaine Forseth, and Evonne Leary.

A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Loren Fritz will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, Dec. 13, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will in Crystal Lake Cemetery in the spring. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
