W-F students to sing in Dorian Festival

Three Weyauwega-Fremont High School choral students have been selected to sing in the Dorian Festival Choir in January.

They are junior Mary Perket and seniors Dan Crist and Kelsey Trinkner. In addition, Crist and Trinkner have been selected for the prestigious Chamber Choir.

The Dorian Festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, is a 1,300 voice honor choir of the best high school singers in the Midwest.

Students are nominated by their teachers and then selected using various criteria such as state level solo participation, other honor choirs and school involvement in the choral arts.

The Chamber Choir consists of 100 of the best students selected from the larger choir.

Trinkner topped the list of criteria having taken 10 events to the state level, including receiving one perfect score on her classical solo.

Crist sang four events at state, including last year’s perfect score on his classical solo.

Perket received a first on a solo last year at state as well.

This year marks the two seniors third year participating at the Dorian Festival. Perket will be attending for the first time.

Crist and Trinkner both plan to pursue the music arts in college next year.
