Indians split two games

Weyauwega-Fremont picked up a Central Wisconsin 8 boys’ basketball win over Wittenberg-Birnamwood, but also came up short against Amherst.

The Indians handed the Chargers a 67-53 defeat Dec. 20 and dropped a 46-38 decision at Amherst Dec. 17.

WITTENBERG – W-F outscored the Chargers 23-11 in the fourth quarter after taking a two-point lead into the period.

The Indians outscored the home team 17-7 in the first quarter, but the Chargers came back to trail 28-26 at halftime. Both teams scored 16 points in the third quarter.

W-F’s Lincoln Van Cuick led all scorers with 24 points, while Aaron Schroeder and Dan Prillwitz also finished in double figures with 20 and 12, respectively.

Amherst 46, W-F 38

AMHERST – The Falcons outscored the Indians 29-23 in the second half.

Amherst led 9-6 after one quarter, 17-15 at halftime and 31-26 after three quarters.

Schroeder led the Indians with 16 points, while Adam Krause added nine. Amherst’s Tyler Biadasz led all scorers with 21 and was the only Amherst player to finish in double figures.

The Indians will face Auburndale at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, in the first round of the Auburndale Invitational. W-F will then face Waupaca or Chetek-Weyerhaeuser at 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28. W-F will also open a three-game home stand at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, against Laconia.
