Indians drop two games

Weyauwega-Fremont’s boys’ basketball team dropped two games Dec. 27-28 at the Auburndale Invitational.

The Indians fell to Chetek-Weyerhaeuser 71-46 in the tournament’s consolation game and lost to Auburndale 58-18.

A slow start hurt the Indians against the Bulldogs, as W-F trailed 16-4 after one quarter.

W-F’s shots began to fall in the second quarter, as the Indians had a 26-22 scoring advantage to cut the lead to 38-30 at halftime.

However, the Bulldogs scored the first 10 points of the third quarter and the Indians never got any closer than 16 points the rest of the way.

C-W also outscored the Indians 12-9 over the final eight minutes.

Dan Prillwitz and Adam Krause led the Indians with 15 and 10 points, respectively, while Walker Olson led the Bulldogs with 17.

Auburndale 58, W-F 18

The host Apaches held the Indians scoreless in the first period and led 31-7 at halftime and 50-11 after three quarters.

Krause led the Indians with six points and Zachariah Staats had 15 to lead Auburndale.

The Indians will host Laconia Thursday, Jan. 2, and Wisconsin Valley Lutheran Monday, Jan. 6. Tipoff for both nonconference games is slated for 7:30 p.m. The Indians will wrap up the three-game home stand at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, with a Central Wisconsin 8 matchup with Bonduel.
