Clegg, Garret J.

Garret J. Clegg, age 92, New London, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 08, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on December 10, 1921 in the Town of Lebanon, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Brahan) Clegg. On September 2, 1944, he was united in marriage to Lola Morack at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Stephensville. Garret lived and farmed on the family farm his entire life. He loved to fish, dance, and go to his cottage in Land-O-Lakes. He retired from farming in 1985 and travelled with his wife and friends. He was a devoted lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lebanon.

Garret is survived by his wife Lola; daughter, Connie (Tony) Prinsen, New London; sons: Bill (Beth) Clegg, New London; Bob Clegg (special friend, Karen Palucci), New London; Don (Dorothy) Clegg, New London; grandchildren: Keith (Denise) Clegg, Kevin (Tina) Clegg, Sara (Jason) Rathsack, Joe Clegg, Brian Clegg (special friend, Heather Decker), Laurie Shaw, Shannon (Greg) Klatt, Cory Clegg, Kara (Ken) Brown, Kristy (Dan) Vanek, Steve Clegg, Stacey (Steve) Pigeon, and Kyle Clegg (special friend, Laura Garske). He is further survived by sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Harry and Roy; and 3 sisters: Sal Debbrecht, Rachel McGowan and Ethel Madden.

Funeral Mass for Garret will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lebanon with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Lally officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff at St. Joseph Residence for all the care and concern they have shown to Garret.
