Spartans snag three-point win over Bulldogs

A contest featuring several lead changes saw the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans emerge with a 54-51 win over the New London Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 24.

“It was a back and forth game,” said Coach Ken Jagiello. “We had chances to tie, but all of our shot attempts missed.”

Ryan Wolf scored 16 points to lead New London, while Jacob Pinch added 12. Sam Porath poured in nine, while Nick Thomas scored eight. Tyler Jagiello netted six to round out the scoring for New London.

The Bulldogs made 18 of 46 shots (39 percent) and 6 of 24 from 3-point range (25 percent). The team hit 10 of 13 free throws (77 percent).

New London earned a 17-15 rebounding advantage and had just six turnovers, compared to Luxemburg-Casco’s 11. The Bulldogs committed 17 fouls, while the Spartans were whistled for 14.

The Bulldogs play at Clintonville at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.
