Winter Arts Festival in New London

The Winter Arts Festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23 at New London High School (NLHS). This festival consists of a fine arts show, bottomless bowl dinner, live performances and arts and crafts sale. This event is free to the public.

The Wolf River Art League’s (WRAL) 42nd Art Show is held in the NLHS commons featuring the work of artists from near and far. Simon Levin of Mill Creek Pottery in Gresham will be the judge. Children’s book illustrator, Beth Peck of Menominee, is the featured artist.

Professional, non-professional and students are encouraged to enter the art show. Art entry forms are due by Feb. 10. For an entry or additional information email [email protected] or call Lori Schneider at 920-419-8602. Additionally, the art show includes demonstrating artists, live music, silent auctions and a people’s choice award.

The bottomless bowl dinner, also in the commons, is hosted by NLHS Art Team. For $10 diners may choose a hand-thrown pottery bowl, which you keep after enjoying soup/chili supplied by local restaurants. Dessert is included. A pottery sale and raffle round out this Art Team fundraiser.

Both Saturday and Sunday, live performances are scheduled in the auditorium. The NLHS show choir, forensics and drama groups will be performing. The middle school jazz band will add to the entertainment. On Sunday at 2:30 p.m., illustrator Beth Peck will talk about the start to finish process of illustrating a children’s book.

The NLHS Art Club will raise money for supplies and workshops by hosting an arts and crafts sale in the gym. Sale items include: jewelry, photography, pottery, textiles and other useful items. A make and take art area, face painting and more are specially designed for children. To obtain a booth for the Arts & Crafts sale contact Bob Smith at 920-982-8420 ext. 1111.
