TroutFest in Winneconne

Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited will hold its annual TroutFest event Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Fin ‘n’ Feather in Winneconne.

The free sport show-style event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrates trout, trout fishing and the people who work care for the waters everyone uses.

The day features 11 20-minute fishing-related mini-seminars; 24 of the best fly tiers in the area; a youth fly-tying area; state Department of Natural Resources personnel; fly shop representatives; and fishing guides. A water monitoring group, artists, stream restoration group, raffles, and a rummage sale round out the day.

This year’s mini-seminars include “Twenty Ways to Catch More Fish” by John Gremmer, “No-line Nymphing” by Rich Osthoff, “Prespawn Smallmouth Tactics” by Tim Landwehr, “Exploring the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway” by Kyle Zempel, “Fishing the St. Mary’s River” by Brad Petzke and “2014’s Game-changing Smallmouth Flies” by Nate Sipple.
