W-F boys lose four

Wisconsin Valley Lutheran overcame a 12-point halftime deficit and handed Weyauwega-Fremont a 60-57 defeat Feb. 3 in a nonconference boys’ basketball game in Weyauwega.

In other recent games, Amherst defeated the Indians 54-37 Jan. 31, Shiocton handed the Indians a 48-29 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference defeat Jan. 24 and while Clintonville picked up a 52-47 nonconference win Jan. 21.

WVL 60, W-F 57

WEYAUWEGA – The Indians led 16-9 after one quarter and 27-15 at halftime, but Wisconsin Valley Lutheran outscored the home team 45-30 in the second half. The Wolves cut W-F’s lead to 41-40 heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Indians 20-16 over the final eight minutes.

Amherst 54, W-F 37

WEYAUWEGA – A 20-5 advantage in the fourth quarter lifted the Falcons to the win.

Amherst led 11-10 after one quarter and the teams went into the locker room at halftime tied at 23-23. The Falcons took a 34-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Lincoln Van Cuick led the Indians with 19 points after missing the last two games with a knee injury. Tyler Biadasz and Garrett Groshek shared scoring honors for the Falcons with 19 as well.

Shiocton 48, W-F 29

SHIOCTON – W-F managed only eight points in the second half, including three in the fourth quarter.

Shiocton led 15-10 after one quarter, 29-21 at halftime and 35-16 after three quarters.

Bryce Akey and Dan Prillwitz led the Indians with 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Shiocton’s Patrick Brouillard led all scorers with 19.

Clintonville 52, W-F 47

WEYAUWEGA – Akey hit five three pointers and led the Indians with 17 points, but it wasn’t enough against the Truckers.

The Indians led 11-8 after one quarter, 19-15 at halftime and 35-33 after three quarters before the Truckers closed the game with a 19-12 advantage over the final eight minutes.

Aaron Schroeder also finished in double figures for the Indians with 13 points, while Andy Schmidt had 19 points to lead Clintonville.

The Indians headed to Mosinee Feb. 4 for the team’s final nonconference game of the season and will return to CWC-8 play Friday, Feb. 7, by hosting Wittenberg-Birnamwood at 7:30 p.m.
