Donald L. Hirte, age 89, of Weyauwega, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Garden Park House in Waupaca.
He was born on February 22, 1924, in the Town of Weyauwega, the son of the late Henry and Olga (Kleist) Hirte. Donald was married to Lillian Leitzke in 1957. She preceded him on death in 1996. Don was a retired dairy farmer and a former Farm Bureau and NFO member. He also was a former member of St. Peters Lutheran School Board. Don enjoyed reading, gardening, and interesting rope knots.
Don is survived by two sons, Greg (Monica) Hirte, Green Bay; and Michael (Deana) Hirte, Weyauwega; two daughters, Donna (Gary) Girard, Woodruff; and Betty Hirte, Sheboygan; six grandchildren, Austin (Crystal) Retzlaff, Kolt (Annie) Retzlaff; Ingrid, Gary, Daniel and Randi Hirte; four great-grandchildren, Evan, Onin, Egen and Lillian; a special friend, Nancy Schneider.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in the spring. A memorial fund has been established for Garden Park House, Waupaca.
