Lindholm wins Spelling Bee

Over 30 students and their fans attended the New London School District Spelling Bee on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Students in grades five through eight were represented after earning their qualifying status by completing a spelling test in their English Language Arts classes. All students demonstrated poise, concentration and outstanding sportsmanship in the six-round competition. Three finalists will be attending the Regional Spelling Bee to be held at Lawrence University on Feb. 11,. Finishing in third place was seventh grader Alana Christen; second place was captured by sixth grader Alina Ozminkowski and Rian Lindholm in seventh grade earned first place honors in this year’s competition.

Commendations go to all students who reached the district level Spelling Bee.

All students received medals recognizing their participation in the Spelling Bee. Participants included: fifth graders Finnegan Davey, Billy Freeman, Michael Gray, Faith Lenz, Olivia Philippon, Carolyn Woodfin; sixth graders Ben Grumann, Brayden Hahn, Tucker Kohl, Marion Kurszewski, Alina Ozminkowski, Sarah Watling; seventh graders Alana Christen, Kenneth Lee, Rian Lindholm, Megan Millard, Payton Monty, Myles Parker, Jordyn Vanevenhoven, Natalie Sheets, Connor Weber, Kat Wickman, Vincent Winkler; and eighth graders Ellie Madsen, Jack Noffke, Elizabeth Radke, Jason Sanderfoot, Elijah Shiedermayer, Sarah Solberg, Jake Steinbach, and Pandora Yang.
