Johnson, Rose M.

Rose M. Johnson, age 92, formerly of Scandinavia died Monday, February 10, 2014 at Bethany Home in Waupaca.

Rose was born in Iola, Wisconsin on May 29, 1921, the daughter of the late Christian and Margaret (Wendorf) Nassen. She married Milton Johnson on March 14, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1988. Rose was a home maker, who lovingly cared for her husband and children. She enjoyed the family gatherings and was the organizer of the family reunions. She spent some winters in Florida with Gary and Roxann. Rose always had a nice garden. She liked baking, making lefse, travelling, fishing, and camping.

She is survived by: her children, Nancy (James) Filipek of McHenry, IL; Gary (Roxann) Johnson, of Scandinavia and Judy (Gary) Schmidt of Waupaca; grandchildren: James (Jennifer) Filipek Jr., Christopher (Heather) Filipek, Deborah (Anthony) Gaddini, Nathan (Jessica) Schmidt, Lucas (Sara) Schmidt, Naomi (Kim) Krueger, and Ashley (Seth) Hintz; great grandchildren: Anthony Jr., Natalie, Daniel, Katelyn, Johnathan, Matthew, Autumn, Morgan, Sean, and Grant. Rose is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by: a son, Leon Johnson; a grandson, Kenneth Filipek; her brothers: Barnie, Robert, Lester, Richard, and Eugene Nassen, and her sisters; Josie Mork and Gladys Johnson.

A Funeral Service will be held at Scandinavia Lutheran Church, Scandinavia, Wisconsin, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 with Reverend Mark E. Sabin officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin. Memorials to the Scandinavia Lutheran Church new addition may be given in Rose’s name.
