Burglary, drug charges filed

Cody J. Malouf, 23, Bear Creek, is charged with burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On April 21, 2013, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Strobusch was dispatched to Boondocks Bar and Grill, in Symco.

The bar’s owner had a security tape showing a man in a dark hoodie entering the bar through a window shortly before 4:30 a.m. that day. A carton of Marlboro cigarettes and $1,330 in cash were stolen.

The bar’s manager told Strobusch she suspected Malouf because he has a history of theft, lives near the bar, smokes Marlboro cigarettes and had helped clean the bar about three weeks earlier.

On May 31, 2013, state and county investigators met with Malouf at his home in Bear Creek. They had been informed Malouf purchased equipment for starting a meth lab.

According to the criminal complaint, Malouf took the officers to a wooded area north of his house, where he dug up the equipment. The investigators also seized 4.4 grams of marijuana from his home.

Malouf reportedly told investigators he stole the cash from Boondock’s Bar in order to pay his child support.
