Clintonville girls win against Ripon

The Trucker varsity girls basketball team trailed by just two points at halftime, but the Shawano Hawks broke the game open to earn a 56-37 win on Monday, Feb. 10.

Clintonville trailed 31-37 after three quarters. The Hawks outscored the Truckers 19-6 in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Caitie Carpenter led Clintonville with 12 points, while Autumn Voight scored nine and Ali Johnson added six. Emma Polzin netted five, Etta Sorenson tallied four, and Olivia Wagenson added one.

The Truckers made 13 of 52 shots (25 percent) and hit just 4 of 17 from 3-point range (23 percent). The team made 7 of 11 free throws (63 percent).

Clintonville was beaten up on the boards, as Shawano grabbed 29 rebounds while Clintonville had 18. The Truckers turned the ball over 13 times and committed 16 fouls.

Clintonville 47, Ripon 37

The Trucker varsity basketball team posted a 47-37 win over the visiting Ripon Tigers on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Clintonville led 13-3 after one quarter but the game was tied, 20-20 going into halftime. The third quarter saw Clintonville outscore Ripon 13-6, and the Truckers kept the momentum in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers 14-11 to seal the win.

Johnson scored 17 points to lead Clintonville, while Caitie Carpenter added 13. Voight narrowly missed a double-double, scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Taylor Carpenter scored three, Polzin added two, Wagenson netted two, and Sorenson scored one.

The Truckers made 14 of 54 shots (25 percent), hitting 5 of 15 from 3-point range (33 percent). The team made 14 of 22 free throws (63 percent).

The Truckers forced 11 turnovers and blocked four shots in the winning effort.

Waupaca 45, Clintonville 31

The Comets outscored the Truckers 21-15 in the first half and 24-16 in the second half to earn the win.

Caitie Carpenter scored nine points to lead Clintonville, while Polzin, Danielle Kiefer, Johnson, and Taylor Carpenter all scored four. Voight, Wagenson and Laura Lukoski all scored two.
