‘Seussical the Musical’ in Iola

Iola-Scandinavia High School students will perform “Seussical the Musical” on March 7-9 in the high school auditorium.

The musical uses 18 different Dr. Seuss stories and wrapped together into one storyline.

Seussical includes familiar characters such as the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie La Bird, the Sour Kangaroo, Jojo and all the Whos, Yertle the Turtle, and the Grinch.

The production is directed by Johnathan Turba and Chelsea Liesch, design by Scott and Peggy Wirtz-Olsen, with costume and make-up design by Becky Robillard.

“Many students, staff and members of the surrounding community have been excellent in stepping forward to help with every facet of the musical,” Turba said.

The show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 7-8, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9.

The Sunday matinee will be preceded by a Dr. Seuss-themed brunch as a fundraiser for future musicals. Food will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The tickets are $5 each, with assigned seating.
