Fine Arts Festival needs support

The Fine Arts Festival of Waupaca has existed in the Waupaca community for more than 50 years.

During that time, countless numbers of individuals have had the opportunity to have their lives touched through one of the programs.

The Festival sponsors the Waupaca Community Theatre, the Waupaca Community Chorus and the Waupaca Art Show.

The upcoming 51st Fine Arts Festival will present a program of varied cultural events.

The Festival will open with the annual Community Choir and Civic Orchestra Concert on Sunday, April 6.

This year, the choir will undertake two works that are new to the choir’s repertoire, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore and Handel’s Coronation Anthems.

The Waupaca Art Show will be presented at the Waupaca Expo Center from Sunday, April 27 to Friday, May 2 and will feature artists and styles in every genre.

The Waupaca Community Children’s Theatre will return this year to present Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland Jr.,” directed by Amy Holterman.

Over the last weekend in July and the first weekend in August, the Waupaca Community Theatre will present six performances of “The Music Man.”

The Tony Award winning musical, directed by Holly Saunders, will be presented at the Waupaca High School Performing Arts Center.

In addition to these annual events, the Festival will also feature the Percussion Group of Cincinnati on Oct. 4 at the Waupaca High School Performing Arts Center, and the vocal jazz ensemble Five by Design.

The Fine Arts Festival of Waupaca is seeking the community’s financial support of the community.

For half a century, the organization has annually provided a variety of creative programs, such as the spring choral concert, the art show and the summer musical production.

The Fine Arts Festival does not receive funding from the state of Wisconsin.

Currently, the annual fund drive has not yielded what is needed to sustain these programs.

Those who have not already responded to the fund drive are asked to consider giving a gift to the Fine Arts Festival of Waupaca. Contributions, which are accepted throughout the year, are tax-deductible if they are itemized.

The festival’s board asks community members to consider a donation to help support these arts programs.

Contributions of $250 or more will be listed as an Underwriter for all three main events, in the annual program.

In addition, their names or businesses will be listed as a Patron of the Fine Arts Festival and represent the largest group of supporters. Patrons will be listed as donors over $150, Benefactors as donors of $100 to $149, Donors as those giving $50 to $99 and Contributors as those donating less than $50.

Gifts must be received by Tuesday, March 18 to be included in this year’s printed program.

Checks may be mailed to Waupaca Fine Arts Festival, Box 55, Waupaca, WI 54981.
