Judicial candidate?s wages were garnished

Judge Keith Steckbauer and Assistant District Attorney Vicki Taggatz Clussman will face off in the general election for Waupaca Circuit Court Branch 2 for Judge on April 1.

I have studied both candidates and although both have the qualifications to fill that position, there are some significant differences that in my estimation should be noted.

Governor Walker appointed Mr. Steckbauer after very careful review of his qualifications and history to fill the vacancy created by the retiring Judge John Hoffman. That is a plus and a vote of confidence for Mr. Steckbauer.

Ms. Clussman’s application was rejected.

I think that Ms. Clussman was rejected in part based on her financial history. She has been sued at times and had her wages garnished. Additionally, she was sued during this campaign and had a default judgement against her in January.

Some folks have gone through some tough times at some point but can we be sure she has put the past behind her? We can’t. I cannot imagine a judge having her wages garnished.

Ms. Clussman may be a very nice person, and a good mother, but a judge must have unquestioned personal responsibility and judgement.

Judge Steckbauer alone has demonstrated that integrity.
