Taste of Wisconsin set for April 8

An upcoming event will benefit the entire city of Manawa.

All proceeds from an April 8 fundraiser will go to the Manawa Downtown Revitalization project.

The taste-testing event will be held from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Smith’s Manawa Steak House.

The fundraiser is hosted by John and Robyne Smith. They hope the proceeds will help spruce up the downtown area and provide enough money to fix up some of the aging buildings in the city.

“It’s our way of saying we appreciate the years of support the community has given us,” John Smith said. “Robyne and I have always believed in supporting our community in any way possible.”

“We feel as though by improving the downtown, Manawa will be more inviting to future business owners,” he said. “We are basically buying back into the city.”

Vendors featured at the Taste of Wisconsin will be: Wollersheim Winery, Prairie du Sac; Door County Winery, Kerrigan Brothers Winery, of Freedom; Wisconsin Distillery (Green Bay Vodka); Dupont Cheese, of Marion; Main Street Marketplace (homemade fudge) and Dancing Bear Apiery (honey), of Waupaca; and Customized Glass Designs by Lori Paige, of Manawa.

Music will be provided by Ivory Wind with Strings Attached.

There will also be a basket raffle and door prizes.

“Sponsoring this type of event gives Robyne and me a great sense of community involvement and satisfaction,” Smith said. “We are able to have as much fun as our customers.”

“It is a wonderful event,” he said.

Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Smith’s Manawa Steak House and other local businesses. The cost at the door is $25 per person.
