Arlene R. Mackin, age 93, of Waupaca, WI passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at her residence under the care of Thedacare at Home Hospice.
Arlene was born in Knowlton, WI on January 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mathilda (Gardner) Gehring. On December 15, 1951, Arlene married Richard J. Mackin in Milwaukee and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2005. She is a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and the Wild Rose Hospital Auxiliary. She loved volunteering at Wild Rose Hospital, doing crafts, card games and being with her family.
Arlene is survived by her sons: Dennis (Ruth) Mackin, Waupaca; Terry Mackin, Milwaukee and Rick Mackin, Wichita Falls, TX; her six grandchildren: Ryan Mackin, Kelly (Cesar) Ochoa, Patrick (Charis Anne) Mackin, Mark Mackin, Sharon (Alex) Heermann and Dawn Mackin and her four great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings: Irene Burnett, Weston, WI; Marcella Kobs, Kimberly, WI; Ralph Gehring Jr., Shiocton, WI; Dorothy Gehring, Cottonwood, AZ and Pearl Kunz, Appleton, WI. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dick, her sister, Lucille Sprague and many sisters and brothers in-law.
The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca with Father Amalraj Roche, celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Milwaukee. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, assisted the family with arrangements.
