New leadership at St. Joseph Residence

Gidget Blank has been hired as executive director of St. Joseph Residence and The Washington Center in New London.

“Gidget’s 20 years of experience working in long term care makes her a wonderful addition to lead the team at St. Joseph Residence, Trinity Terrace, Marion Heights and The Washington Center,” said Dan Mercer, RN, Director of Business Development. “Gidget began what would become her career and life’s passion working in the laundry department of a long-term care facility. Within a short time of employment, she realized how special the residents were and the importance of the relationships the residents had with the staff.

“Gidget moved from the laundry to the business office and then Business Office Manager of that facility and in 2007, Gidget successfully completed the UW-Madison Nursing Home Administration Program and obtained her nursing home administrator license,” added Mercer. “With her continuing education, experience, and outgoing personality, Gidget was promoted to Nursing Home Administrator at that company’s sister facility. Gidget joined the St. Joe’s team in February of this year.

“Gidget empowers her team to strive for excellence, provide service that enhances the quality of life of those we care for, insure that they feel loved, are always treated with dignity, and respect. She believes a smile, a hug, love and compassion, are the best gifts one person can give to another,” concluded Mercer.

St. Joseph Residence Inc. and St. Joseph – The Washington Center are part of Catholic Health International and provide long term and rehabilitation care as well as independent and assisted living options for senior citizens.
