Caledonia man killed in fire

An 82-year-old man died in a house fire in the early morning hours Tuesday, March 25, in the town of Caledonia.

Wayne W. Tesch died from smoke inhalation, according to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office.

His wife, Joyce S. Tesch, 77, was taken to New London Family Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation and later released. A pet dog was also killed in the fire.

Dale and Fremont firefighters were called to the Tesch’s home near the intersection of State Highway 96 and Bellin Road at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Both lanes of State 96 were closed to traffic until nearly 9 a.m.
