Couple charged with felony theft

A Waupaca couple are accused of stealing and pawning tools and a shotgun from their relatives.

Charged with felony and misdemeanor theft are 28-year-old Sean and 24-year-old Karyn Gabrielson.

On Dec. 21, 2013, Waupaca Police Officer Paul Benzschawel spoke with Karyn Gabrielson’s father, who reported he suspected his son-in-law of stealing a 10-inch miter saw, a weed eater and a Ford F-150 motor intake with a total value of about $650.

According to the criminal complaint, the man said he and his wife kicked the Gabrielsons out of their home after they caught them stealing a few months earlier. He said Sean had previously pawned stolen items at a pawn shop in Appleton.

Benzschawel contacted the pawn shop and learned Sean had pawned a miter saw there on Dec. 15, 2013.

The pawn shop indicated the Gabrielsons had pawned nearly tools, electronics, automotive parts, cameras, DVDs, shotguns and other items between Nov. 6 through Dec. 21.

Benzschawel obtained a list of the pawned items, which the father-in-law identified as among those that were missing.

The couple had lived for awhile with Sean’s half-sister in Royalton. She also identified several of the items on the pawn shop’s list as belonging to her, the complaint says.

Similar theft and burglary charges were filed against the Gabrielsons in December 2013.
