Jump Rope for Heart

Students at Chain O’ Lakes Elementary School raised close to $9,000 for the American Heart Association during this year’s Jump Rope For Heart.

The fundraiser took place on Feb. 14 at the school.

This month, the students celebrated the fact that 106 students raised a total of $8,743.

Polly Bigler, the school’s physical education teacher, said this is the second highest amount the students have raised in the 13 years the school has participated in Jump Rope For Heart.

During the past 13 years, the Chain School has raised more than $70,000 for the American Heart Association.

The students who raised the most this year were Sully Lettau with $3,280, Gloria Brown with $530 and Miles Wenberg with $470.

Lettau received a plaque from the American Heart Association. He also raised the highest amount for Jump Rope For Heart in the state and will be honored during the half-time show of the April 5 Milwaukee Bucks game. He will also get to meet one of the players.

The top three classes and the amounts they raised were $3,593 by Mary Kaye Ristow’s class, $2,005 by Lori Zelinske’s class and $1,325 by Brian Kurzynski’s class.

Ristow’s class received an ice cream treat from Waupaca’s Dairy Queen.

All of the students who participated received a free ticket to the March 29 Green Bay Gambler hockey game.
