Manawa man faces 7th OWI

Dean D. Kuehl, 44, Manawa, is charged with a seventh drunken driving offense.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Whitaker was eastbound on State Highway 54 in Mukwa when he clocked another eastbound vehicle traveling 72 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

A records check on the vehicle’s license plate indicated the owner of the vehicle, identified as Kuehl, only had an instructional permit and was required to have an adult passenger. Whitaker made a traffic stop.

Because he had six prior drunken driving convictions, Kuehl was legally allowed to have no more than a 0.02 blood-alcohol level.

According to the criminal complaint, the State Crime Lab reported that Kuehl had a 0.172 blood-alcohol level.
