W-F wrestlers undefeated

Weyauwega-Fremont Middle School’s wrestling team recently completed their season with an 8-0 record in dual meets.

The team also competed in three tournaments and won 19 individual championships. This year’s team included 23 wrestlers: four sixth-graders, 14 seventh-graders and five eighth-graders.

As a team, the W-F matmen won 295 matches and lost 180 while earning 186 pins.

Team members included sixth-graders Carter Greening, Noah Marker, Zarek Hoffman and Shawn Behm; seventh-graders Chris Strehlow, Logan Kicherer, Cian Fischer, Justin Kempf, Noah Greening, Avery Kempf, Easton Groskreutz, Tyler Wetzel, Ean Marker, Keagan Thurber, Jacob Kuckkahn, Collin Baehnman, Jesse Heinz and Charlie Ricker; and eighth-graders Noah Rucks, Trevor Fletcher, Felipe Romero, Michael Hickey and Kyle Loehrke.

Lizeth Patino, Alexa Greening and Natasha Stemwedel served as team managers, while Rich Tomaszewski, Cal Greening, Dylan Hansen and Tim Potratz coached the squad.

Leading the team in wins were Groskreutz (26-3), Carter Greening (20-3), Loehrke (19-10), Kempf (18-7), Ean Marker (18-7), Thurber (18-4), Noah Greening (17-11), Fischer (16-4), Kicherer (15-6), and Kuckkahn (15-7).

“The coaches would like to thank all the boys on the team this year for a great season,” Tomaszewski said. “The boys worked hard and improved a lot from the beginning of the season to the end. They listened, learned and competed very well.”
