Hurley-Ward, Grace Elizabeth Helen Tews

Grace Elizabeth Helen Tews Hurley-Ward was born in a six-bedroom farm house in Pella, WI on March 8, 1929; she graduated from Clintonville, WI high school in 1946. Growing up she wanted to be a Social Worker. When the Catholic Church opened Prince of Peace (an adult living Center,) she realized her dream by volunteering her time a few days a week for many years. Grace was a giver; a loyal wife, a caring mother, and a loving grandmother who expected nothing but appreciated everything.

She passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Avera McKennan Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Hurley, daughter Colleen Hurley-Lund, mother Emma (Buss) Tews, and father Carl Tews, siblings Rena, Willie, Ruben and Dorothy. She is survived by daughters Barb Erickson, Ypsilanti, North Dakota – Katie (Craig) Halverson, Sioux Falls – Mary (Kevin) Kroeze, Sioux Falls – Bill (Samantha) Hurley, Toronto, Canada – Joe (Sharon) Hurley, Sioux Falls – Jeff (Renee) Sioux Falls, Carrie Struss, Sioux Falls, 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and her husband of six years James Ward.

Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home and resume at 5:00 p.m. at the church with a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. The family will be present at the church at 5:00 p.m. www.heritagesfsd.com
