A New London School District employee was booked into Waupaca County jail Thursday, April 17, for suspected theft of school funds.
Wendy Swinton, who worked in payroll and accounting for the district, faces charges of stealing several thousand dollars.
According to New London Police Chief Jeff Schlueter, the police have been working with the New London School District on a case that involved missing funds collected at athletic events.
After reviewing records provided by the school district, police determined that several thefts have occurred over several years.
Investigators are still trying to calculate the time frame and the total amount stolen.
The complaint will be referred to the Waupaca County district attorney’s office for charges.
