Errors hurt Indians

An error here, an error there.

It all added up to a win for the Iola-Scandinavia baseball team.

The Thunderbirds took advantage of six Weyauwega-Fremont errors April 21 in an 8-6 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference win over the Indians in Weyauwega.

W-F found itself in a 3-0 hole heading into the bottom of the first inning, but came up with five runs to take a 5-3 lead.

The lead didn’t last long, however, as the T-Birds countered with a run in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead.

The Indians tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but I-S came up with two in the sixth and held the Indians scoreless the rest of the way.

Cam Gruenwald had three of the T-Birds’ eight hits and also picked up the win on the mound. Hunter Gruenwald added two hits and three RBIs, while John Prahl scored three times. Prahl, Jayden Sivertsen, Seth Korb, Nate Korb and Brady Snyder had hits for the T-Birds.

Bryce Akey, Nick Walters, Sam Schoenick, Brandon Loehrke, Zach Costello and Logan Bosquez each had a hit for the Indians.

The T-Birds improved to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play with the win.
