Darla J. Poppy, age 77, New London died on Thursday, April 24, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in New London on April 29, 1936, daughter of the late Herman and Helena (Schmidt) Brennenstuhl. She graduated from New London High School in 1954. On September 17, 1955, Darla was united in marriage to Robert Poppy. She loved her garden and flowers and enjoyed pickling and canning. Darla and Bob enjoyed traveling and RVing to New Mexico.
She is survived by her husband Bob, son Greg Poppy, Franklin, WI; daughter-in-law, Theresa Poppy, Long Island, NY; five grandchildren: Heather, Robert, Melissa, Sara and Brenda; 3 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Baylie and Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Chris, infant brother Duane and a sister Connie Hensel.
Funeral services for Darla will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Marcus Schulz officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
