Waupaca teen charged with felony theft

Adam C. Nickel, 18, Waupaca, was charged with felony retail theft.

On April 30, Waupaca Police Officer Brent Krueger met with the store manager and regional loss prevention manager at Shopko. They reported that Nickel had been stealing food, electronics, lottery tickets and gift cards from the store over the prior four to six months.

According to the criminal complaint, Nickel told Krueger he began taking food and eating it at work without paying for it. He allegedly started taking larger, more expensive items, and putting them in his backpack before leaving the store.

Management estimated that Nickel stole $1,336 worth of merchandise from the store.

Nickel faces up to three years in prison if convicted of felony theft.
