Vold leaves fitness center

Molly Vold has resigned as director of the Iola-Scandinavia Community Fitness & Aquatic Center.

Her resignation was accepted by the I-S School Board at a special meeting on Wednesday, May 7.

Vold’s resignation is effective June 30 and she is on a leave of absence until that time.

She has served as the ISCFAC director since the facility opened in 2001.

The school board issued the following statement:
“Ms. Vold is on a leave of absence for purposes of career exploration for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year. For personal reasons, she has decided not to return to the (I-S School District) for the 2014-15 school year.”

According to District Administrator David Dyb, Vold was under contract through June 2015. However, her administrative contract included a clause which allows termination upon mutual agreement without penalty or prejudice.

At its next monthly meeting, “The board will discuss an appropriate direction to take to replace Vold,” Dyb said.

He anticipates that the job opening will be posted immediately. How soon the position is filled will depend on the job market, he noted.

“In the interim, we will continue to provide the quality services our patrons have come to expect,” Dyb said.
